Although it is difficult to keep cute with a face shield on, it seems that Louis Vuitton has stepped in to save the day. Louis Vuitton will be launching a designer plastic face shield mask for almost $1000! According to the NY Post website the LV face shield will be retailed at $961. Whew Chillay, imagine spending almost $1000 for a necessity item!
According to the NY Post, “The hard plastic covering doubles as a hat — it can be flipped up, like a visor — and features LV-embossed gold studs, a monogrammed elastic head strap, and trim in the brand’s signature “LV” print. The LV Shield will protect the wearer from the sun’s rays, too: The clear covering transitions from clear to dark in bright light.”
Louis Vuitton may be helping combat the rona, but it seems it may be out of some of our price range. It appears as if LV is just trying to capitalize off of the high demand for face masks, however LV has taken COVID seriously.
According to the NY post “At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Armani, Bulgari and Prada re-tooled their assembly lines to make PPE, such as masks and medical overalls, for under-geared medical workers. Vuitton also donated 2,500 white cloth masks to MTA workers in May, and manufactured hand sanitizer for the masses out of their perfume factories in March.”
However, it is back to business with LV and now they are planning to charge skyrocket prices for a simple, yet LV logoed, face shield mask.
